Automotive and equipment manufacturers continue to develop electric vehicles, and widespread adoption of EVs is dependent on a comprehensive charging network that enables drivers to charge as needed. The private sector is eager to meet the charging needs of the traveling public as the pace of change in the transportation industry increases.

“Are electric vehicles here to stay? All of the data now says ‘yes.’ It is not a question of if; it is a question of when, but the when is happening now as well,” said Deepesh Nayanar, global head of e-mobility for Gilbarco-Veeder Root.

The Edison Electric Institute reported that there were more than one million electric vehicles on the road at the end of 2018. A recent study by AAA found that 40 million Americans said they will at least consider a battery-electric vehicle for their next vehicle...
